National domestic abuse conference: Seeking safety- the whole picture

Date:
15 October 2010
Start time:
09:00
End time:
17:00
Venue:
Royal Institute of British Architects
Portland Place
London
Outline:

Domestic abuse is increasingly in the spotlight as a result of the developing law on injunction orders and their enforcement and the impact of domestic abuse on child contact. It is also seen by the Legal Services Commission as one of its areas of high priority for funding.

The conference will focus on the key issues facing family practitioners when dealing with cases where domestic abuse is an issue.

  • Is an injunction the best option?
  • What is the best route to protect your client?
  • Will your client be considered intentionally homeless if they move out?
  • How do the police approach and deal with the new criminal offence of breach of a non molestation order?
  • Forced marriage: what is it, and how do you deal with it?

The purpose of this one day conference is to address all of these issues and provide useful and practical guidance. We are delighted to be welcoming an excellent line up of speakers, including the new President of the Family Division.
