National YRes Conference 2017

Date:
21 September 2017
Venue:
Woburn House
Tavistock Square
London
WC1H 9HQ
Outline:
Resolution is delighted to announce its inaugural National YRes Conference, for members with up to 10 years PQE. Family law practitioners are operating in a rapidly changing environment where the divorce rate has reduced, fewer people are accessing legal advice and the number of those representing themselves is increasing. Behind these changes is a nexus of social, economic and political factors that have informed the prevailing policy of successive governments and are shaping the legal sector more broadly. Given these developments, it’s essential that family law practitioners are focused on the challenge of how they will practise in the future.

This event will:

  • Set out the key trends all family law practitioners need to be aware of
  • Consider how those at the beginning of their career can incorporate varied approaches to dispute resolution
  • Identify key issues in better understanding clients and how to work constructively with other professionals

Speakers include:

  • Sir James Munby, President of the Family Division
  • Angela Lake-Carroll, Mediator and Consultant Head of Standards, Resolution

Highlights include:

  • A keynote address by the President of the Family Division, Sir James Munby
  • A panel discussion - ‘Future proofing: family law in 2025’ featuring an impressive line-up of professionals from across the family sector
  • ‘Incorporating DR into your practice’ - a session to explain all the DR processes, how you can train and how you can incorporate DR into your day-to-day work
  • A soft-skills session, ‘Understanding your client’

£120 (members) £180 (non-members)
