Introductory courses on legal aid: New family fees and Managing your new family contact

New family fees
This course will be delivered by an experienced Resolution practitioner and Murray Heining, a Law Costs Draftsman.
The Legal Services Commission is introducing new fee schemes which will cover almost all the private family work currently done under legal representation certificates and advocacy in both private and public family cases. They will apply to cases opened on or after 14th October 2010.
The new Standard Contract specification also affects the existing private family fees schemes.
Practitioners need to attend this course to ensure they remain compliant and profitable.
- New rules for Legal Help (level 1) and Family Help Lower (level 2)
- The Private Family Law Representation Scheme (PFLRS)
- New Family Advocacy Fees
This course is aimed at fee-earners carrying out legal aid work.
Managing your new family contract
This course will be delivered by Vicky Ling, an experienced consultant on Legal Aid.
The new Standard Contract will apply from 14th October 2010. It introduces a number of important new provisions.
This course will ensure that practitioners are aware of the Legal Services Commission’s requirements and will be prepared for future audits.
- Key requirements in the standard terms and contract specification
- Mandatory key performance indicators
- Contract sanctions and how to avoid them
- Lessons from recent Legal Service Commission audits
It is aimed at partners, practice managers and supervisors with management responsibility.
The Legal Services Commission is also running a number of a number of national training events for providers in September and early October 2010. It has asked Resolution to draw these training events to members' attention.
