1.30pm-2.30pm - Working with modern families with Natalie Gamble (NGA Law) and Andrew Spearman (chair and member of the UK and Ireland LGBT Family Law Institute)

Natalie Gamble and Andrew Spearman will cover the basics of the law on parenthood and gender identity for gay, lesbian and transgender parents and children, and discuss good practice when working with modern families, including terminology, key issues to consider and good client care.

2.30pm-3.30pm - Re: L and the New Presidential Approach: Tips and Tactics in Parental Alienation and Intractable Hostility with Anakarli Musgrave (barrister, Coram Chambers)

Anarkali Musgrave, barrister at Coram Chambers, acted for the children's guardian in Re: L. She will discuss a general update on the case, including a look at parental alienation and the test for a change of residence before and after McFarlane LJ's judgment. The talk will discuss timelines and features of litigation and help solicitors to identify cases of parental alienation and intractable hostility, and to determine which tactics to deploy during a matter.

3.30pm-3.45pm - Break

3.45pm-4.45pm - Mental capacity issues with Dr James Warner (Consultant Psychiatrist, Halycon Doctors)

This interactive session will explore some of the common mental illnesses and how they affect mental capacity. Delegates will develop an understanding of how to spot mental illness in clients and what to do if they suspect incapacity due to mental illness.
