PPC networking day

21st November 2018

“I am clear that the Government remains committed to supporting mediation for separating couples. Where it is safe and appropriate, mediation is an effective way of resolving disputes about finances and children. We are working to improve information and signposting to raise awareness of mediation and to encourage more separating couples to try it.”

Lucy Frazer QC MP, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, January 2018

Since the establishment of the FMC Standards, the role of the PPC has become ever more central to the good practice of family mediation. The FMC are proposing a new Code of Practice and Guidance for PPCs which will further formalise the role, function and practice of PPCs. Alongside this, PPCs are faced with an increasing array of dilemmas in practice for mediators, supporting mediators towards accreditation, new ‘hybrids’ in practice and the introduction later this year of Child Inclusive Mediation. Your role as a Professional Practice Consultant is an increasingly critical resource for all family mediators and you are central to the preservation of practice standards, support and the communication of changes in professional practice and policy relating to the practice of your consultees.

Our PPC Networking Day provides an opportunity for PPCs to meet together and to debate the challenges of your role with your peers, the space to consider the best way for you to support mediator consultees and an opportunity to ensure that you are up to date with the most recent developments across mediation and family justice.
