The President of the Family Division, Sir James Munby, has recently released a number of reports detailing proposed changes to the family justice system.

A consultation paper, Transparency – the next steps, issued on 15 August sets out proposals for opening up the workings of the Family Court to public scrutiny to increase understanding of the work of the courts.

The Interim Report of the Children and Vulnerable Witnesses Working Group, released 15 August has recognised that more needs to be done to ensure adequate protection for children and vulnerable people in the family courts. A final report is expected later in the year.

The Report of the Financial Remedies Working Group, released 15 August, sets out proposed solutions to improve the accessibility of the system for litigants in person and identify ways of further improving good practice in financial remedy cases.

The thirteenth View from the President’s Chambers details these consultations and reports alongside other developments in family justice, including the latest batch of draft orders prepared by Mr Justice Mostyn’s family orders project for use in the High Court.
