Joining as an Associate - criteria

Therapeutic Professionals

Therapeutic professionals who are one or more of the following:
• Registered member of BACP
• Clinical member of UKCP
• Full Member of the Association of Child Psychotherapists
• MRCPsych
• BPS Registered Chartered Psychologist

Financial Professional

Any finance professional authorised to practice through the relevant regulatory body and a member of any one of the following:
• Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA)
• Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA)
• Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA)
• Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment (CISI)
• Chartered Insurance Institute (CII)
• Chartered Institute of Taxation (CIOT)
• Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (IFoA)
• Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales (ICAEW)
• Pensions Management Institute (PMI)
• Personal Finance Society (PFS)

Social Care Professionals

Someone who falls into one of the following professional categories: social worker, courts adviser, guardian, family group conference coordinator or children’s advocate.

Lawyer from another jurisdiction

Any lawyer qualified to practice in family law in accordance with the requirements of, and working in, jurisdictions other than England and Wales

Law Lecturer or Academic

Any lecturer in family law or associated specialised subject related to the study or qualification of professionals working with separating or separated families, including children and young people from separated families, who is teaching at a college, university or higher or further education institution.

Judge

Expert Witness

Other Family Justice Professionals

Any family justice professional who belongs to a membership body or professional association, works in a role approved by Resolution’s National Committee or is nominated by a member or associate of Resolution.

Resolution supporter (reduced fee)

• Non-practicing solicitors
• Members or associates on a career break or maternity leave
• No practicing certificate
• Other professionals stepping back, e.g. retired.

Trainee (reduced fee)

• Trainee solicitors
• Affiliate members of CILEx
• Pupil barristers
• Trainee paralegals (associate members of IoP)
• Trainee therapeutic professionals, working towards certified, accredited or masters status
• Trainee accountants and finance professionals

Students (first year of membership free)

Someone who doesn’t fall into any of the other categories, e.g. trainee, paralegal, etc. and who is doing one of the following:

• Studying law or any subject related to family justice.
• Working towards a relevant qualification.
• Working in family justice prior to undertaking further training.
