About

The Manchester Regional Group covers a wide geographical area, including the whole of Greater Manchester and parts of Cheshire. You, our members, come from many varied backgrounds reflecting all aspects of family law.

We seek to reflect this diversity within the committee and in the seminars we arrange. Any member is entitled to stand for election to our committee and elections take place during our Annual General Meetings, usually held in Resolution awareness week in November (following the DR conference).

What do we offer?

Our primary aim is to offer educational seminars covering a range of family law issues, including finances and children. We arrange legal updates from senior members of the bar, which are always well attended. We support local charities and nominate our ‘charity of the year’ at the November AGM.

We also arrange social events such as our annual quiz which usually takes place in January and is always good fun, along with a joint summer social with YRes and the DR Group.

Ideas for future talks or social events, are very welcome; please contact one of the committee members on our ‘contact’ page.

Free advice clinics at Manchester CJC

From April 2013 we have been running a weekly, free advice clinic at Manchester Civil Justice Centre on Wednesdays.
Our members kindly volunteer their services free of charge and attend the drop-in sessions to assist anyone with a family query who is in need of legal advice.

YRes Manchester

Manchester YRes also host regular talks and skills training as well as social events for their membership.
